Training Models – Know what are you paying for?

There is a difference!

In short there are two business models for diver training groups – the Seize a Dollar Immediately (SDI) method and the Sustained Earnings Accumulate (SEA) method.  The “SDI” method is about faster, quicker and cheaper training.  The “SEA” method, is the hallmark of the SAS & MAX training philosophy and it is based on training comfortable and competent divers so that they keep diving and keep coming back.  With over 3000 divers, hundreds of instructors and dozens of instructor trainers trained from Thailand to Portugal and all over North America, we have a sustained continuing education rate in excess of 85%, so we must be doing something right!

We think that something is keeping quality in our training program – we have resisted the masses and watched the results as most of our industry went the “SDI” route.  The results have been disappointing at the very least and dangerous at the worst.   Yes our courses take a bit longer and yes they may cost a bit more – but we think you and your family members are worth it?  That is why we keep quality and not quantity ever present in our business model.   So if you want a fun, complete and comprehensive training program, welcome aboard!

Why train with me?

I am the author of the TDI Advanced Wreck Diving Manual, The SDI/TDI Diving Leadership Manual and 4 other diving related textbooks, the book Diver Down by McGraw Hill Publishing and hundreds of articles on diver training and safety including ”Lessons for Life – Real World SCUBA Accidents and How to Avoid Them” (SCUBA Diving Magazine, 01 – 09; SEAduction 09).  Mike planned and supervised all of the technical recovery dives for clearing the USNS Vandenberg after the sinking and had the priviledge of being part of the first dive team to ever dive the wreck.  He is also the chief visionary at SEAduction.com.  For more info please see the about page.
